Although this TTRPG website is still under construction, I want to extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits! My name is Sam, and I am a lifelong GM who absolutely loves roleplaying games, sharing them, and exploring their rich history.
I’ve played a large range of systems that span all across the hobby and love reading about mechanics and especially binging longform YouTube videos about this wonder genre!
So why am I creating this website/blog? Well, while reading about a bunch of home-brewed stripped down minimalist systems, one of the websites I’d lurk on suddenly vanished. This particular community hosted a large swath of Microlite20 and other rules light system based hacks. I personally found the rules light forum that hosted these creations to be a fantastic resource for game design and research.
As I began searching for where the websites had gone, one thing became clear: I wasn’t the only one who missed that creative outlet and resource. Many people were disappointed that others’ creations had vanished and they could no longer access the tools and ideas they needed. Always in need of creative expression to distract me from an often gloomy world, I noticed that rules-lite.com and ruleslight.com were available domains and decided to secure them.
It is now my goal to create a permanent resource for rules light games, and really TTRPG games that tickle my fancy (and hopefully others). I hope this website can serve others as the other countless amazing blogs and sites have served myself for quite some time. Let us all unite in this hobby and share our joy!
As an aside, please forgive me if I’m ever inconsistent with my usage of rules-lite or rules light. People use both of them and my brain cant choose!
